Dr. John Cason is a world-recognized leader and specialist in cornea, ocular surface disease, and refractive surgery. A 22-year veteran of the United States Navy, he specializes in advanced refractive surgery techniques on multiple lasers, including: SMILE, LASIK, PRK, ICLs, refractive lens exchanges, cataract surgery, and presbyopia correction. In addition, he performs the full spectrum of advanced cornea transplantation and complex anterior segment repair to meet all needs of the cornea, lens, and ocular surface.

After completion of his undergraduate studies at Emory University, he matriculated to the George Washington University Medical School where he acquired his medical doctorate. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Navy Medical Center San Diego and cornea fellowship at the Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California. He applied this extensive training to serve as an active-duty Navy Ophthalmologist for over 22 years, where he led his community as Specialty Leader and Refractive Surgery Advisor to the Navy Surgeon General. He deployed to Afghanistan and to Southeast Asia to perform trauma care and remote humanitarian surgical services. He mentored ophthalmologists-in-training as an assistant professor of the Uniformed Services University, Loma Linda University, and the University of California San Diego.

Dr. Cason is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), and the Cornea Society. He is an accomplished lecturer and clinical researcher with multiple publications (including FDA trials) and has served as an article reviewer for peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Dr. Cason enjoys spending his leisure time with his wife and three children mountain biking, hiking, playing golf, and jamming on the guitar.
