Dr. Angela Herro Kovacik is a board-certified general ophthalmologist, refractive cataract surgeon and fellowship-trained neuro-ophthalmologist. She has a special interest in femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), as well as premium lens implantation involving astigmatic correction and multifocal lenses, enabling her patients to achieve a high level of glasses independence.

In addition to cataract surgery, Dr. Herro Kovacik sees patients for many aspects of ophthalmic care, including YAG laser procedures (after-cataract membrane), glaucoma and glaucoma lasers, diabetes eye care, macular degeneration, and eye emergencies.

Dr. Herro Kovacik is a home-grown member of our medical staff. She grew up in Phoenix in a family of well-known medical professionals.

Dr. Kovacik graduated with honors from Arizona State University with her Bachelor of Science with a double major in Chemistry and Mathematics. She then earned her Medical Degree from Boston University. After a one-year internal medicine internship at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Dr. Kovacik completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. Kovacik earned the distinction of Resident of the Year twice during her three years in residency and was elected chief resident during her final year. She then completed her fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, one of the world’s premier eye institutes at the University of Miami.

Dr. Kovacik speaks Spanish. She loves traveling, playing piano, drawing, and spending time with her husband and two beautiful children.
