Eye Surgery Center at the Biltmore is proud to offer the latest technology for the removal of cataracts – “laser assisted cataract surgery”. Our center has available to patients, and surgeons the FDA approved LensAR™ femtosecond laser cataract system. With the LENSAR Laser System, your surgeon can remove your cataract with advanced technology, customizing your cataract procedure with laser precision.

LENSAR’s superior Augmented Reality imaging system represents a more intelligent approach to cataract surgery. With Augmented Reality, your surgeon can see a 3-D view of everything inside your eye in greater detail. This allows the surgeon to customize your cataract surgery to your eye’s own unique size and shape.

Other benefits of the Lensar system include:

  • The most advanced technology available, which may reduce the time it takes to remove your cataracts.3
  • A system designed with comfort in mind, so you can relax, knowing the latest technology available is being used to treat one of your most valuable senses – your sight.
  • A unique, high-resolution, 3-D view of your eye that allows your surgeon to tailor your treatment, which can improve visual outcomes.

Cassini Total Corneal Astigmatism Analyzer

The Cassini takes topographical maps of the cornea pre operatively and transfers it to the Lensar prior to the Lensar treatment. The Cassini total corneal astigmatism analyzer aides the surgeon with astigmatism management, as well as assists with the placement of the intraocular lens implant during cataract surgery for optimized surgical planning and vision correct.

Beyond Clearing Your Vision

When cataracts progress to the point that they begin to affect daily life, doctors often recommend surgery to remove and replace the clouded lens. With basic cataract surgery, your surgeon will replace your clouded lens with a clear intraocular lens (IOL), but most patients will continue to rely on glasses following the procedure.

Advanced cataract surgery incorporates technologies that can increase the accuracy of the procedure and lead to better visual outcomes. The use of advanced lens removal technologies and premium IOLs that can correct for presbyopia and astigmatism mean that you can not only regain clear vision, but you may be able to enjoy the crisp, vibrant vision you had when you were younger.

The ORA System® guides the use of these advanced technologies and allows your surgeon to ensure the IOL is perfectly selected and perfectly placed, which helps give you a better visual outcome.

In the past a surgeon needed to wait weeks after performing surgery to determine your vision results. Thanks to ORA, this is no longer the case. Now, during the cataract surgery your surgeon can take measurements of your eye. ORA measurements are taken after the clouded cataract is removed, when the surgeon has a clear view, allowing him to tailor the procedure to your individual eye and refine your visual outcome.

No matter what premium cataract procedure you and your surgeon decide upon, you can feel confident that by adding the ORA System®, you’ll receive the best possible results.
